RTC Scenario :
Major trauma rarely gives you the luxury of time to think slowly. Decisions have to be made quickly, priorities must be clear, and the team has to work together under pressure. Road traffic collisions remain one of the most common causes of serious trauma encountered by ambulance clinicians, and the first few minutes on scene can determine whether a patient survives to reach definitive care.
This interactive scenario places you in the role of the attending clinician responding to a serious road traffic collision. As the case unfolds, you will be presented with clinical information, observations, and decision points that mirror the type of challenges faced in real prehospital incidents. Your task is to assess the situation, identify life-threatening problems, and decide what actions should come next.
The scenario focuses on key elements of trauma care including scene assessment, the primary survey, airway management in a trapped patient, recognition of haemorrhagic shock, extrication priorities, and the management of deterioration including traumatic cardiac arrest. Each section is designed to test your clinical reasoning rather than simple recall.
Work through the case step by step. Consider what you would actually do on scene, not just what might look correct on paper.
