Adult Sepsis Recognition & Escalation Tool (16+)

Built for prehospital use. This supports clinical judgement and escalation. It does not diagnose sepsis and must not be used to falsely reassure yourself out of escalating a sick patient.

Adult tool only. Use a separate pathway for under-16s and for pregnant or recently pregnant patients.

1. Infection Context

Start with ABCDE, treat immediate life threats first, and reassess after intervention.

2. NEWS2 & Clinical Concern

A good-looking number can still hide a bad patient. Deterioration, poor response to treatment, or an obviously unwell appearance should push you upward, not calm you down.

3. Red Flags That Raise Risk Above NEWS2

4. Immediate Management Prompts

Antibiotics in the prehospital phase must follow local policy and scope of practice. Do not let a web tool invent authority you do not have.
